ISFn Features
Connect Directly with Other Members
A key feature of the ISFn is that it will serve as a member directory via profiles (not available publicly) that will allow ISF members to find one another by searching a variety of data points including: company, location, expertise areas and experience with vendors, tools, etc.
After you find someone you want to connect with you can send them a direct message, add them as a Friend, comment on their wall, etc.
Suggested starting point: Click on the Members tab and in the search box below “All Members” enter “Joomla” to find members who have experience with that platform. If you have a question about Joomla ask via their wall by posting a comment. Public openness, where appropriate, is encouraged so that others may chime in and help. You never know where others may be able to offer their help.
Groups
The ISFn can be subdivided into groups by interest, etc. Today we have Groups for geographic chapter, Social Media and more. Some groups are exclusive. You can also start your own group.
Forums
Forums are a great way to interact with other members in an open fashion. Feel free to create your own topic, question, etc. or respond to a topic that already exists.
Suggested starting point: Scroll down to Forums on the main page or click on the Forums tab. Respond to the topic about your top work-related priorities for 2009.
File Downloads
You can download files that other members have posted, or post your own files for download that you think the community might be interested in.
Suggested starting point: Scroll down to Forums or click on the Forums tab. Click on the topic “ISF Publishes the 2009 Corporate Internet Executive Research Study” and download the 4-page research brief.
Personal Page
Each ISFn member has a personal page. With several applications to choose from, this is actually a fun place. Do you like Twitter? Do you use Delicious? Add your feed to your page. Add photos or videos of related events to share with the network.
A Note About Your ISFn Profile
We encourage all ISFn members to fill out a complete profile to enhance the value of the network. Why? Think of profiles, when used right, as an efficient professional directory. This is how other members can find you and you can find them. So help others engage you and thus you can engage with them more efficiently.
Because the network is exclusive and private, your profile information is not available publicly.
If you only want to complete a partial profile upon sign-up, you can fill in more of it later by clicking on the “Settings” link on your personal page.
